The Police Report As An Aid To Your Investigation

Posted by Christine Burke on Tuesday, March 15, 2016, In : private investigation

As a private investigator, do you view the police department as friend or foe? For me, as a former police officer, I have a unique perspective on the job of officers and the private and public scrutiny that goes with it. I support our guys and gals in blue, because until you have walked in someone's shoes....you know how the saying goes. With that said, frequently a lot of people I meet during the course of my work discount what the police department and its members have to offer in the way o...

If it walks like a......

Yeah, yeah. It's a Zebara, right? But what's so special about this Zebra?

It's not just black and white. Meaning, not just a private investigator or not a private investigator. Anything can have stripe and call itself one of the herd. Here's why you want to look past the illusion....

We have a number of "licensed" investigators in the state of Arizona and across the U.S. Believe it or not, there are still some states that do not require licensing. Yep, go figure!

I have heard from and met quite...

What's the Cost? Pay now or pay later.

Posted by Christine Burke on Sunday, August 16, 2015, In : private investigation

As I'm sure with many professions, I get asked the question, "What does it cost to do a background check?" or "How much do you charge for this?"

A recent posting in our investigator forum was talking about a new service whereby investigators would work at a set rate, which is at least 2/3rd's lower than my rate. And, from the comments on the post, I gather it was well below what those investigators were charging too.

If you were going in to have a serious surgery or procedure done, let's say b...

How Do You Know? Trust Your Gut!

Posted by Christine Burke on Saturday, June 6, 2015, In : private investigation

Sometimes when I review a case. or talk to a person, an idea or determination comes to mind. I just know what to do, or what is going on. Clients, friends and family will ask me, "How do you know?" and my answer most of the time is, "I just do" and I can't pinpoint why.

I am truly a believer in "Gut Feelings" as those gut feelings kept me alive on the street for many years. It still saves me today in both my work and my personal life.

A lot of times though, because you can't elaborate on the w...

How Do You Know When Someone Is Lying?

Posted by Christine Burke on Monday, January 26, 2015, In : private investigation

Obviously it easy to tell that someone is lying when you already know the truth or the answers to various questions. When you are not sure of the answers, and maybe are not sure what questions to ask, you have to rely on your evaluation of the answers.

As a private investigator we are usually asking questions and seeking answers. Most times we are just documenting information but frequently we are asked to attempt to determine if someone is lying or if they are credible.

Some of the ways that w...

About Me

Christine Burke, Private Investigator Welcome to my blog! It seems that every time I meet someone and tell them my profession, I get the "Wow, that must be so cool" or "I always wanted to be a private investigator" or "Where were you when I needed you", "What types of things do you investigate" and most of all, "Can you help me with...." I thought that this blog might be a good way to answer these questions and more. Please feel free to comment or send me your question!
